Heavy and perfect thickness, and size and quality leather toughness. Does it mark and show scratches? Yes, it is raw leather so of course it does, but it takes a good bit to mark it though, so you don't have to treat it with soft gloves. Is it quality? Absolutely. It will last a very long time, even with the marks and scratches it may get. But as a desk mat it shouldn't get many unless your constantly scraping and moving sharp objects across it. For normal use it may not show anything but if it does, so be it, that makes it yours Does it have rough edges? Yes and no, but it is a piece of leather, so it is expected to be like leather is. Everything about this desk mat is great. Just get one because you know you want one, and because it is a great desk mat.
Above and beyond quality. This should last a lifetime.
THe leather pads were for my desk. Due to the size of a pad, I ordered two for the width and depth of the two together.

Bought this for my wife to replace a cheap desk topper. She was thrilled with the improvement to the home office working space. Comfortable to work on and really dresses the desk surface up.
A wonderful big piece of leather, very thick and the grain on it is beautiful. It's going to patina very well. Oh and did I mention the wonderful smell that it has?!?!?

Stunning. Nothing like a big slap of leather on your desk. The darker might be a bit better for a laser mouse.
Love the desk mat, i do wish it was about an inch or two deeper, but I read the dimensions and knew what I was getting into. Just wish a bigger one was an option! I do a mixture of work and gaming and heard mixed things about leather for gaming. While its a little sticky on the wrist, the actual tracking is good and the mouse slides smoothly over. Any drawbacks there are well worth it for how easy it is to clean, as cloth mousepads get gross, wear out, and are too much of a pain to clean to make it worth not just replacing instead. Its also SUPER easy to wipe off pet hair so it doesnt get stuck in your mouse which is huge. I feel like Im going on a bit much here over a piece of leather but its also a super nice thick leather that doesnt slide around and my desk smells GREAT now!
