CHECK THE LEATHER GRADE
If the tag says genuine leather, that is the bottom grade, not a promise of quality. Look for full-grain: the outer layer of the hide, grain intact, no coating. Our answer: every belt we make is 9oz full-grain leather.
CHECK THE THICKNESS
A quality belt feels substantial and holds its shape instead of folding like a ribbon. Thin, floppy belts are thin because the leather was split to save money. Our answer: 9oz leather, thick enough to last.
CHECK THE EDGES
Raw, fuzzy edges fray and split. Finished belts have edges that are burnished, slicked smooth so they wear clean for years. Our answer: every belt edge is burnished and polished by hand in our workshop.
CHECK THE HARDWARE

Measure the belt you wear now, from the fold at the buckle to the hole you use. If you do not have a belt to measure, take the waist size of your favorite jeans and add 2 inches. Full instructions are in our Belt Sizing Guide.
