Plenty of bags are designed in one country and made in another. Ours are not. Every tote we sell is cut, riveted and sewn in our own workshop in Nelson, British Columbia, by the same people whose names are on the guarantee. You are buying from a Canadian workshop, not a Canadian marketing office.

Most bags at this price use split leather, the underside of the hide, sprayed with a finish to look like the real thing. When that finish wears through the bag looks worn out rather than worn in. Our totes are 3/4oz full-grain leather with the grain intact, so there is no coating to crack and every mark it picks up belongs to you.

A tote fails at the handles, because that is where the whole weight hangs. Ours are built for it, with solid rivets through the stress points and an industrial machine stitch on the seams. It is the same construction we would use if we had to carry it ourselves, which we do.
